Brazzaville, is the capital of The People′s Republic of Congo with a population of about 300,000 in 1998.
It′s location makes it a busy city with a thriving political, economic and cultural atmosphere with easy access to the rest of the nation. Across the great Congo River from Brazzaville, lies the city of Kinshasa. This is the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The west part of the urban area is slightly inclined tableland (at an elevation of about 300 meters); East part is moist flatlands of river bank (at an elevation of 270-280 meters). The administration departments are concentrated on the west tablelands, and stores are distributed mainly over the east flatlands.
High temperature, large amount of rainfall, humidity and short days are the features of Brazzaville’s climate. The city annual temperature is 25℃ and yearly precipitation is 1,396.4mm.
Brazzaville is on the fast track in terms of industry development, food,textile, cigarette, manufacture, chemistry and electric power are the major industries. There is an international airport in the suburb of Brazzaville and fights from here can reach France, Mali, Chad,Central Africa and Gabon.
On August 9, 1982, Xiong Qingquan, Mayor of Changsha, and Hemmengue, Mayor of Brazzaville, signed the “Agreement on the Establishment of Friendship City Relationship between Changsha and Brazzaville” in Brazzaville.
